|Description||Unatrac Division was created on 1 October 1974. It held the franchise for Caterpillar track vehicles, co-ordinating seven Caterpillar dealerships in Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone under the name of Tractor and Equipment, in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda under the name of Construction Equipment, and in Britain under the name of H Leverton and Company Ltd. (acquired by Unilever In 1970). Each of these handled the range of Caterpillar earth-moving equipment, lift trucks and industrial engines, providing a comprehensive technical advisory and after-sales service through its depots (nine in Britain, five in Nigeria, three in Kenya, two in Ghana and one each in Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda). The equipment was used on road and other major construction projects, in the oil industry, in marine applications as well as in opencast mining, irrigation schemes and agriculture.|
The commercial, purchasing and advisory services, and the headquarters of Unatrac Division and the Leverton organisation, were at Windsor.
