DescriptionThe UAC collection of artwork includes paintings, engravings, portraits and maps, including an example of contemporary Nigerian metalwork.

There are 71 watercolours, and also 9 colour illustrations and 5 black and white sketches. These date from 1727 to 1874, and consist of scenes of African people and places.

There are 13 very important antiquarian maps of Africa, dating from 1540 to 1860.

There are also 4 engravings, dating from the early nineteenth century.

There are 3 framed portraits of chairmen of UAC, i.e. Sir Arthur Smith, Sir Frank Samuel and Sir George Goldie, dating from 1959 to 1970 (the portrait of Goldie is a copy of an original of 1898).

The item of modern art is 'Progress', a beaten aluminium relief by Asiru Olatunde, showing the Yoruba people of Nigeria at work (1980).
