TitleUAC Board
DescriptionThe records of the UAC Board include board minutes, and the records of the Board Committee Secretariat and the Group Secretariat. [There are also the records produced by individual directors.]. Until 28 April 1936 the Board of The United Africa Company Ltd was called the Executive Committee. The UAC Board had two official Committees, established by Board Resolution: the Sealing Committee and the Urgent Business Committee. The Sealing Committee was established on 10 June 1930. It only had power to seal documents. The Urgent Business Committee was established on 16 July 1963 as a small committee to deal with urgent business in between Board Meetings.
The General Purposes Committee was constituted on 7 December 1976. It replaced both the Sealing Committee and the Urgent Business Committee, and took over their functions. (It was therefore the UAC equivalent of Unilever's Directors' Committee.) The Board Committee was not established by any Board Resolution, and was in effect a Management Committee.
