|Description||These documents form part of the Maureeen Staniforth collection. They are the personal papers of Francis and Brenda Snelson. In 1933 Francis was working in the OSC/Technical Department at Unilever House, London. On 2nd September of that year he married Brenda Kirkpatrick, who was working at that time as a sectretary to Mr J Wainwright, Port Sunlight Works Production Manager. Upon commencing married life Brenda left her work, receiving a long service award for her 15 years employ in the company.|
Brenda had grown up on the Wirral, and it seems that her father had also worked for Lever Brothers. Included in this collection therefore are invitations from the company addressed to the young Brenda to attend children's parties and important celebrations, such as George V's visit to Port Sunlight in 1914.
The remainder of the material in the collection consists of photographs, momentos and invitations collected by Francis Snelson during his working life, and then later in his retirement.
