|Description||This company began in York in 1725 as a tea, coffee and cocoa trading business set up by Maria Tuke. The company name changed to Tuke in 1805 and Henry Mennell Tuke took control in 1853. He sold the chocolate side of the business to Isaac Rowntree in 1862. Robert Oscar Mennell ran the company from 1923. The company was bought by Lipton after WWII as an overseas trading arm, but it ceased trading in 1963. It was resurrected as a trading company in the mid 1970s.|
