| Description | The Chiswick Soap Company was established by the Mason family in 1886 making soft soap, furniture and
metal polish. In 1906 they launched Cherry Blossom boot polish, followed in 1907 by Mansion floor polish. In 1913 Reckitt & Sons joined the Mason brothers Dan and Charles in forming the Chiswick Polish Company, in which Reckitt's held a substantial share with equal representation on the board. In 1929 Chiswick Products was formed under the joint ownership of The Nugget Polish Company and the Chiswick Polish Company. Following the death of Charles Mason, the chairman was Albert Reckitt. This arrangement was successful and was the model on which the 1938 merger of Reckitt & Sons and J&J Colman was based. |
